Department on protection of the rights of the childrens (DPRCH)

Duties and responsibilities of the Department on Protection of Children’s Rights are as follows:

 

1.1. Receives and handles complaints on alleged violations of children’s rights, particularly violence against children.

 

1.2. Drafts and adopts specific procedures, in coordination with the Department of Legal Affairs, on admission and handling complaints received by the children, through establishing a specialized team for children’s rights.

 

1.3. Drafts an everlasting program so that children become aware of their rights and the role of the Ombudsperson Institution in protecting them.

 

1.4. Proposes measures on protection of children’s rights, specifically of those who are victims of violence, so that all children, regardless of gender, race, color, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth, sexual orientation, state of health, disability or other status, can be protected against all forms of violence and be provided with such care and assistance to ensure the maximum possible extent of their existence and development.

 

1.5. Initiates undertaking of measures for improvement of Institutions’ work in the field of accomplishment and promotion of children’s rights.

 

1.6. Proposes laws and initiatives for amendments of Laws and Regulations in order to improve protection of children’s rights, given the current state, standards and recommendations of international mechanisms on the  rights of children.

 

1.7. Follows up the activity of responsible institutions towards accomplishment of children’s rights and monitors situation of children’s rights.

 

1.8. Prepares recommendations and proposals for initiation of disciplinary proceedings against an administrative employee, who through his action or inactions is directly responsible for violation of children’s rights.

 

1.9. Collects and systematizes data concerning situation and aspects of children’s rights protection, on the basis of which parts of Ombudsperson’s Annual Report are prepared as per respect of rules, standards and relevant recommendations of national and international mechanisms for children’s rights.

 

1.10. Prepares Special Reports, based on requirements set, on the Department’s scope.

 

The Department is run by Director of the Department, who responds and reports to the Ombudsperson and Deputy Ombudsperson.
