Pristina, September 23, 2026 – The Ombudsperson, Mr. Naim Qelaj, met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to Kosovo, H.E. Mr. Petrit Malaj.

During the meeting, discussions focused on the human rights situation in Kosovo, as well as the work and challenges facing the Ombudsperson Institution.

They emphasized the importance of cooperation between the institutions of both countries in advancing human rights standards and the rule of law.

Mr. Qelaj cited the high level of cooperation between the Ombudsperson Institution of Kosovo and the Ombudsperson of Albania as an example, noting the exchange of experiences and best practices in promoting human rights and freedoms, as well as collaboration aimed at strengthening institutional independence.

The meeting also addressed current issues in Kosovo related to the proceedings of the Specialist Chambers in The Hague, placing particular emphasis on the importance of upholding international standards regarding fundamental rights and freedoms to ensure a fair and impartial trial.
