Prishtina, 15 July 2026 – The Ombudsperson, Mr. Naim Qelaj, received in a meeting the representative of the Community of Tariqats of Kosovo, Mr. Lulzim Shehu, with whom they discussed issues related to the protection and promotion of fundamental human rights and freedoms, with particular emphasis on freedom of religion and belief.

The Ombudsperson reiterated the institution’s commitment to protecting the rights of all citizens, without discrimination, in accordance with the Constitution and international human rights standards. He assessed the importance of continuous communication with religious communities as part of efforts to strengthen respect for fundamental rights and promote tolerance, understanding and coexistence.

For his part, Mr. Shehu thanked the Ombudsperson for the reception and expressed the readiness of the Community of Tariqats of Kosovo to continue cooperation with the Ombudsman Institution on issues that contribute to the protection of human rights and the promotion of interfaith harmony in the country.
