Statement of the Ombudsperson on the occasion of World Children’s Day

20/11/2025

Prishtina, 20 November 2025 – On the occasion of World Children’s Day, the Ombudsperson reaffirms his unwavering commitment to the protection, promotion and respect of the rights of every child, without distinction. This day reminds us that every child, everywhere in the world, deserves love, security, quality education and equal opportunities to realise his or her full potential.

When it comes to children, the responsibility is shared by the community, institutions, families and society to create an environment where children grow up protected, valued and heard. Every child has the right to live safely, protected from violence, abuse, maltreatment and any form of discrimination. Every decision-making and policy must have the best interests of the child at its core.

The Ombudsperson remains committed to monitoring the implementation of children’s rights, identifying shortcomings and requesting the responsible authorities to take the necessary actions to improve the situation. Children’s rights are not symbolic issues – they are an obligation that requires continuous action.

Wishing that every child enjoys a safe, fair and happy childhood, we mark World Children’s Day today, reiterating that their protection is the most valuable investment in the future of society.
