
The OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Visited the Ombudsperson’s Institution
Pristina, 28 August 2025 – The Deputy Ombudspersons, Mr. Basri Kastrati and Ms. Majlinda Sinani Lulaj, with their associates, received the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, Christophe Kamp, in a meeting.
Deputy Ombudsperson, Mr. Basri Kastrati, informed the attendees about the work and activities of the Ombudsperson Institution, the receipt and investigation of citizens’ complaints, as well as the implementation of the Ombudsperson’s recommendations by public institutions.
He added that the Institution has received a significantly higher number of complaints from communities, and in particular from the Serbian community, these complaints received also directly from meetings with citizens, in all municipalities.
It was also emphasized the increased and regular communication with citizens, including all communities through the organization of meetings in coordination and cooperation with civil society organizations, and it has been shown as a good practice as an opportunity for citizens to freely express their concerns.
On the other hand, Mr. Kamp was also informed about the cooperation that the Ombudsperson’s Institution has with the Office of the Commissioner for Languages, involved in joint projects by raising the importance of respecting the Law on Languages, while the position of the Commissioner continues to remain vacant.
Ambassador Christophe Kamp emphasized the role and importance of the Ombudsperson’s Institution in protecting human rights for all citizens, emphasizing the deep cooperation that the OSCE Mission in Kosovo has with the OIK.
