Pristina, 1th of July, 2025 – The Ombudsperson’s Institution monitored on Tuesday the strike of physical security workers at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (UCCK), which began on July 11, 2025.
The physical security workers started the strike after a protest lasting several weeks due to the termination of employment contracts for about 280 workers, after the tender was canceled. Security in the UCCK facilities is being carried out by the Police.
Hakif Zejnullahu, representative of the UCCK’s Physical Security Association, emphasized that the decision was made on May 22, 2025 by the PRB, and the contract was terminated on June 21, 2025. The contracts of these workers were for a fixed period, until September 20, 2025.
The termination of the contracts by the company came in accordance with the legal obligations set forth in the Commercial Court ruling No. 264/2025 and the decision of the Procurement Review Body (PRB) No. 2025/0225, according to which the contract of the private company with UCCK was terminated, consequently this company was forced to stop its activity with this health institution.
The representatives of the OIK met with the acting director of the University Hospital and Clinical Service of Kosovo, Mr. Osman Hajdari, who emphasized that in the coming days they will continue with tender procedures by negotiating for a solution as soon as possible.
The Ombudsperson will continue to monitor this process based on the mandate and competencies that it has based on the Law on the Ombudsperson.
