Prishtina, March 25, 2025 – The Ombudsperson, Mr. Naim Qelaj, participated in the roundtable on the topic “Consistency of Jurisprudence and Harmonization of Judicial Practice”, organized by the Council of Europe office in Prishtina.

The meeting was attended by the heads of justice institutions, judges and prosecutors, where the findings and recommendations of the research on the right to a fair trial and legal certainty, conducted last year by this office, were also presented.

The Ombudsperson Qelaj said that during the investigations of the cases, the importance of building and strengthening the justice system was ascertained by respecting the principle of legal certainty that requires stable and predictable decisions on the one hand, and also the interpretation and implementation of the law in a uniform manner.

He said that he has consistently emphasized the importance of harmonizing judicial practice as an effort to create a unified approach to similar cases and to achieve this, it is necessary to continuously review practice, exchange experiences between courts and respect precedents set by higher instances.

The organizers also provided a platform for judicial dialogue and exchange on the consistency of jurisprudence and harmonization of practice in the judiciary of the Republic of Kosovo.
