Prishtina, March 18, 2025 – The Ombudsperson, Mr. Naim Qelaj, met on Tuesday with the Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren, Mr. Petrit Kryeziu, and the President of the Basic Court in Prizren, Ms. Shpresa Emra.

In these meetings, the work and challenges faced by these two institutions were discussed, with particular emphasis on the implementation of the recommendations arising from the Ombudsperson’s reports.

Mr. Qelaj underlined the need for greater commitment to take action by all competent institutions to create a mechanism for effective resolution of cases of delays in judicial proceedings, as one of the systematic complaints received by citizens over the years to the Ombudsperson.

The parties expressed their willingness to deepen cooperation as a means towards advancing respect for fundamental human rights and freedoms.
