Pristina, August 28, 2024 – People’s Advocate, Mr. Naim Qelaj and his colleagues hosted the Danish delegation at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, headed by Mr. Mogens Jensen.

Mr. Qelaj informed the attendees about the state of human rights and freedoms in the country, the rule of law and democracy, he also spoke about his mandate and powers, as well as about the work and activities in the protection and promotion of human rights.

The People’s Advocate said that his role is multidimensional in the sense of the principle of separation of powers, control and balance between them, exercising powers through giving opinions and recommendations to the responsible authorities.

He added that Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe would be an extraordinary step with a very big impact for the citizens of Kosovo, as a guarantee of respect for human rights and freedoms.
