The Ombudsperson met with student activists
Pristina, May 10, 2024 – The Ombudsperson, Naim Qelaj met the members of the Student Activism Congress Committee, a platform of all students of public universities in Kosovo.
The students informed the Ombudsperson about the fourth congress of Student Activism in Kosovo, in which, among other things, the problems faced by students during their studies were examined.
They emphasized that a resolution was issued from this year’s congress that includes challenges such as the lack of democratic governance in public universities, gender discrimination related to sexual harassment as an emergency of proper addressing, increasing funds for improving conditions, protecting the autonomy of universities public, the digitization process in universities and others.
The Ombudsperson emphasized that he will address their complaints, which fall under the mandate of the Ombudsperson’s Institution, to the responsible authorities. He added that the Ombudsperson’s Institution has handled and is handling complaints related to the rights to education and that he will always support initiatives that help students.
