Pristina, April 8th, 2024 – The Ombudsperson, Naim Qelaj welcomed the new head of the Office of the Council of Europe, Mary Ann Hennessey, whom he congratulated on her appointment and taking up the position and wished her success in fulfilling her mandate.

The Ombudsperson Qelaj appreciated the contribution made by the Council of Europe for the promotion of democracy and human rights in Kosovo, as well as for the cooperation in projects that have helped the institution in raising its capacities, especially the National Mechanism for the Prevention of Torture.

Ms. Hennessey said that the Ombudsperson’s Institution remains a key partner in the country and pledged to continue cooperation for the improvement of human rights in Kosovo.
