Pristina, March 25, 2024 – The Ombudsperson, Naim Qelaj hosted the member of the European Parliament, Thijs Reuten, with whom he discussed the state of human rights in the country.

The Ombudsperson informed the Dutch MP about the work and activities of the Institution and the implementation of the Ombudsperson’s recommendations by the authorities of the Republic of Kosovo.

In the discussion, the great importance of the country’s membership in the Council of Europe was emphasized, since this membership would offer the country’s citizens the opportunity to address the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).

The Dutch MP, Thijs Reuten, was appointed rapporteur on the issue of visa liberalization for Kosovo, and negotiated with the European Council on behalf of the European Parliament.
