The second regular working meeting for 2023 of the Forum for dialogue between the Ombudsperson Institution and Organizations of Civil Society was held

Pristina, November, 14th November 2023  – The second regular working meeting for 2023 of the Forum for dialogue between the Ombudsperson Institution and Organizations of Civil Society was held.
The meeting commenced with the discussion of joint activities accomplished in the last three-month period, with regard to protection and promotion of basic human rights and freedoms in the country, in tight cooperation and coordination with civil society, pursuant to Forum’s working plan for 2023/2024.
Actually the Forum has managed to play a key role in initiatives and efforts for the protection and promotion of human rights in the country, in which occasion, Ombudsperson’s close cooperation with civil society has been highly evaluated by civil society itself, in handling and addressing the issues of vital interest for human rights, by emphasizing that such an assessment is progressively reflected in the most important international reports for the country and the institution itself.
A common stand emerged from the meeting and all participants agreed on the joint activities of the Ombudsperson and civil society in marking the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, International Day of Persons with Disabilities and marking of 10th December – International Human Rights Day.
Initiation of investigations on various issues, such as state’s liability for persons with mental health problems, over the age of 65, analyses of the language used in textbooks of upper secondary education, protection of the right to a safe, accessible and clean living environment for everyone, protection and respect of the rights of disabled persons, were some of the issues recently addressed by the Ombudsperson, which were topics of discussions at the Forum.
