
OI participates in the 13th Cooperative Platform meeting CoE-FRA-ENNHRI-EQUINET
Pristina, September 29, 2023 – Representatives of the Ombudsperson’s Institution, Mrs. Suzana Gashi, director of the Department against Discrimination, and Mrs. Vlora Veseli, legal advisor, is participating in the meeting of the collaborative platform of the highest human rights institutions of the European Union, with the theme ” Realising social rights in the age of digitalisation: opportunities and risks “, which is being held in Helsinki, Finland.
These fruitful discussion meetings have brought together representatives of the Council of Europe (CoE), the European Network of Equality Bodies (EQUINET), the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI), the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), national human rights institutions, national equality bodies and civil society actors active in the promotion and protection of social rights, with the aim of advancing the protection and promotion of economic and social rights and the exchange of practices good ones.
At this 13th meeting of the cooperative platform of CoE-FRA-ENNHRI-EQUINET for social and economic issues, the main objectives were about the impact of new technologies on the labor market, the impact of the digital approach on social services, how to ensure equal access to digital tools, services and education, as well as the role of human rights defenders in preventing and mitigating the negative impact of artificial intelligence and digitalization of social services.
In the meeting of the working group of ENNHRI for Economic, Social and Cultural Affairs, the representatives of the OI presented the work updates from the exercise of the mandate of the OI in social and economic issues. During the meeting of the ESER Cluster working group of EQUINET, representatives of the OI presented the cases initiated and handled by the OI on legal grounds, such as: social status, property, economic vulnerability, social origin, social position, economic situation, profession and part-time employment.
