NPM visited the terrorism suspects

Pristina, 26th of September 2023 – The team of the National Mechanism for the Prevention of Torture (NMPT) of the Ombudsperson, based on the mandate for monitoring places where persons deprived of their liberty are kept, visited the High Security Prison and interviewed Blagoje Spasojevic and Dushan Maksimović, the two arrested for terrorism.
They were placed in the High Security Prison today after being remanded in custody for 30 days. During the interview, it was emphasized that they had a medical check-up at the moment they were received, and their health files were opened.
The persons in question have lawyers and during the interview there were no complaints regarding the treatment by the correctional officers. The same were informed about the mandate of the Ombudsperson and were offered the free number of the Ombudsperson’s Institution which is located in the complaint boxes that are in each ward.
NMPT thanks the Kosovo Correctional Service for the good cooperation they have shown as every other time.
