Pristina – 14 April 2023 – The Ombudsperson’s Institution published the report with recommendations regarding “Sexual and reproductive health rights”.
The ex-officio 577/2021 report is the result of a general investigation regarding rights in sexual and reproductive health and was based on direct testimony from women and girls, whose rights have been potentially violated that are directly or indirectly related to the aspects it has highlighted. focus of the investigation in question.
The work methodology for the realization of this investigation was drawn up based on the Guide in support of National Institutions for Human Rights (©UNFPA, 2015) and with the support of the UNFPA Office in Kosovo.
The investigation has been extended to rural and urban areas, in the seven regions of the country and is based on direct testimony from women and girls, whose rights related to Sexual and Reproductive Health have been potentially violated. Also, during the Investigation, special attention was paid to the needs of special vulnerable groups: persons with disabilities, ethnic communities, persons with marginalized economic and social status.
The findings of the report show that the situation is worrying in some sectors in the neglect of reproductive and sexual health, especially in terms of access, awareness, provision of services, treatment without discrimination, but also the level or preparation, or the professionalism of the provision of services that are missing in certain cases.
The national investigation on sexual and reproductive health rights as well as the public launch of the report with recommendations was supported by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), office in Kosovo.
