Pristina, February 22, 2023 – Ombudsperson, Mr. Naim Qelaj hosted 55 judges and five newly appointed prosecutors in a meeting on Wednesday, congratulating them on their new duties and wishing them success in their mission.

Mr. Qelaj discussed various topics with the participants, in particular about the challenges of the justice system and the challenges of citizens in realizing their rights.

The topic of discussion was also the procedures for accepting complaints and examining them if the received complaints, requests or notifications are within the competences and responsibilities of the Ombudsperson’s Institution.

Further, the work and activities of the national mechanism for the prevention of torture were discussed, which draws up and publishes reports with recommendations, resulting from the handling of complaints and requests and regular and unannounced visits to all places where detained persons are deprived of liberty.

The Academy of Justice organizes a one-year training for newly appointed judges and prosecutors, where in addition to practical training in the courts, they take the initial training by making visits to various institutions of the Republic of Kosovo.
