Pristina, November 17, 2022 – The Ombudsperson, Mr. Naim Qelaj, together with his colleagues, met in Klina the members of the different communities living in this municipality, as well as the local representatives of this city.

In his introductory speech, Mr. Qelaj reaffirmed his commitment to be as close as possible to the communities, to discuss their situation and needs.

Municipal and community representatives were informed about the work and mandate of the Ombudsperson, but also about human rights in general, such as the right in the workplace, what are the protection mechanisms as well as the mechanisms for the inclusion of communities, as well as for growth of cooperation between authorities and communities.

The participants highlighted some of their challenges such as property issues, children in street situation and school dropouts, and the removal of families from social schemes due to the children’s age.

The meeting was organized by the NGO “Advancing together”, in a series of meetings with the Ombudsperson and the country’s communities.
