Pristina, 14 November 2022 – The Ombudsperson, Mr. Naim Qelaj hosted in a meeting the representatives of the villages of the municipality of Klina who complained about the violation of the right to a safe and healthy environment, due to a plan to build a cement factory in that area.

One of the representatives, Mr. Veton Raci said that nearly four thousand residents of the area have signed a petition opposing the actions related to the construction of the cement factory in the municipality of Klina. This petition has been sent to the parliamentary committee for human rights, where the head of this committee, Mrs. Duda Balje was also present at this meeting.

The representatives also emphasized that the state authorities did not take into account the opinions of the citizens, violating their will, and that their objections were based on damage to the environment where they live.

Ombudsperson, Mr. Naim Qelaj emphasized that all these claims will be investigated by him, gathering all the necessary information, and he will come out with a stance on the matter.
