Pristina, October 5, 2022 – The Ombudsperson is participating in the annual meeting of the General Assembly of the European Network for Equality Bodies (Equinet), which is being held in Brussels, Belgium.

At this year’s meeting, in the first session, a vote was taken regarding the Strategic Plan, the Work Plan, as well as the Procedures for electing members and the executive board of Equinet.

While in the second session there was a fruitful discussion regarding the proposal of the new directive of the European Union regarding standards for equality bodies, which will be approved in November of this year and will define a mandatory legal standard for all member countries of the European Union and those aspiring to join it.

This network’s mission is to promote equality in Europe, supporting and empowering equality bodies in their work, to be independent and effective in their commitment to protection from discrimination and unequal treatment.

The Ombudsperson’s Institution is a member with full rights in this network since 2019.
