The Ombudsperson submitted the annual report to the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo

Prishtina, 31 March 2022 – The Ombudsperson, pursuant to Article 135, paragraph 1, of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo and Article 29, paragraphs 1 and 2, of Law no. 05 / L-019 on the Ombudsperson, has submitted today the Report for 2021 to the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo.

The annual reporting of the OI to the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo is a reflection of the situation of human rights and freedoms during the reporting year, as well as a reflection of the work and role of the Ombudsperson, as an independent constitutional mechanism, in overseeing and in evaluating the work of public authorities, in relation to compliance with laws, service delivery, good governance, transparency and accountability.

The report also contains recommendations, opinions and proposals from the Ombudsperson to take measures to contribute and raise awareness in respecting human rights. The report presents cases of systematic and individual violations of freedoms and human rights and activities of the institution against the promotion and education of human rights at many levels.

The Ombudsperson welcomes the review of the Annual Report by the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, in a future plenary session, as provided in Article 29, paragraph 3, of Law no. 05 / L-019 on the Ombudsperson.
