Pristina 7th of December 2021 – The Ombudsperson, Mr. Naim Qelaj participated in the launch of the report “Electronic devices: focus on preventing cases of domestic violence”, published by the non-governmental organization “Fol”.
The report aimed to advocate and draw institutional attention to the importance of implementing the Law on Electronic Surveillance, which would serve to protect victims of crime in general, with a focus on protecting victims of domestic violence.
The Ombudsperson, Mr. Naim Qelaj, has criticized the institutions for not implementing this law and considers it as a violation of human rights. “We still continue to hear that there are good laws, but they are not implemented and this passes with a declarative statement by not punishing those who do not implement the laws. Non-implementation of the law is considered a prohibited action and a violation, which implies that our institutions are failing to meet their obligations.”
