Ombudsperson participated in the opening of the campaign for the promotion of the Law on Child Protection

Pristina, July 2 2021 – The Ombudsperson, Mr. Naim Qelaj participated in the opening of the campaign for the promotion of the Law on Child Protection organized by the association Down Syndrome Kosova (DSK).
This campaign will have a special focus on promoting the protection of children with disabilities and the prevention of corporal punishment. Various representatives of the associations emphasized that the Law on Child Protection is not being implemented enough and in particular Article 46 which talks about the services that should be provided for these children.
The Ombudsperson, Mr. Qelaj said that children still face difficulties for the full enjoyment of their rights, especially in the realization of the right to education and social and health protection. He added that state institutions should do more, especially for children with disabilities, and vowed to support the campaign.
