Tirana, 22 June 2021 – The Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, Mr. Gramoz Ruçi, received the Ombudsperson of Kosovo, Mr. Naim Qelaj, who is in Albania for official meetings and participation in joint activities of the Ombudsperson’s of Albania, Kosovo and Northern Macedonia.

Mr. Ruçi congratulated Mr. Qelaj in his new task and added that the role of the Institution of the Ombudsperson is of great importance in building the state of justice and the rule of law, social justice, respect for freedoms and human rights.

Mr. Qelaj thanked the Speaker of the Assembly Ruçi for the high praise for the cooperation between the Ombudsman Institutions of the two countries and noted that the role of the Ombudsman Institution in Kosovo is becoming stronger and the attention of state institutions is increasing.

He said that the implementation of the Ombudsman’s recommendations is important and their implementation is also assessed as an indicator of rising human rights standards in Kosovo’s European journey.
