Pristina, 15 june 2020 – The Ombudsperson, pursuant to his constitutional and legal mandate, today has published Report with Recommendations C.No.342 / 2018 with regard to violation of the right to a safe and healthy environment, as a result of the impact of air pollution, and the same was disseminated to responsible authorities.

The Report is based on the individual complaint of Ms. L.P with reference to air pollution, caused by the chimney of the collective building, which is located close to complainant’s property, in Mati 1 neighborhood, in Prishtina.

The Report aims to draw attention of the competent authorities on the need to undertake immediate action, as positive obligations of the state to protect the air from pollution, as a necessity to provide citizens with a clean, safe and healthy environment as well as the right to privacy.

The Ombudsperson, through this Report, recommends responsible authorities, that pursuant to powers and legal authorizations, undertake all necessary and effective actions to eliminate the cause of pollution.
