19th Anniversary of the Ombudsperson Institution is marked
Prishtinë, 21 November 2019 – The Ombudsperson Institution marked its 19th anniversary. With the support of the European Union funded project “Support to the Ombudsperson Institution”, the institution organized the event to mark the 19th anniversary of its establishment.
The event was opened by the Ombudsperson, Mr. Hilmi Jashari, as a host with welcoming and opening speech. Mr. Jashari emphasized that during these years, the Ombudsperson Institution has become the most trusted institution in the country, as well as in the region.
“There are 19 years of assembled knowledge and experience throughout the country through comments, opinions, recommendations and annual reports, to become the most trusted institution in the country, but also in Balkans, for two years in a row,” pointed out Mr. Jashari.
According to the Ombudsperson, the Institution will continue to address challenges concerning human rights, for which it has drafted plans and strategies in order to succeed in this battle.
Others who addressed the audience were the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Mr. Arta Rama, Representative of the European Union Office in Kosovo, Mr. Riccardo Serri, Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, Ambassador Jan Braathu as well as human rights activist, Mrs. Igballe Rogova.
An interactive workshop was part of the event, which aimed to facilitate several rounds of conversation in a relaxed atmosphere in order to connect ideas between participants and share knowledge gained.
It was an opportunity to hear voices which exposed interest on this matter and exchange views. It was also an opportunity to network and exchange knowledge and experience in order to increase the impact of human rights culture in Kosovo.
On the occasion of 19th anniversary of establishment of Ombudsperson Institution, a Letter of Appreciation has been granted to Mr. Ibrahim Arslan, already retired, for his work and contribution given to the Institution.
