The Ombudsperson, Mr. Hilmi Jashari, held a Conference with the theme “Institutional Cooperation with the Ombudsperson”.

Participants of this Conference were high level representatives of institutions, members of parliamentary committees, mayors and representatives of municipalities, as well as representatives of international institutions.

Conference’s focus was disclosing achievements and the importance of inter-institutional cooperation in regard with Ombudsperson’s recommendations.

The Ombudsperson set the emphases on the importance of inter-institutional cooperation as per implementation of Ombudsperson recommendations, with the aim on respecting and protection of human rights in our country. Believing strongly that recommendations addressed with obtain due attention and that respect of normative definitions and inter-institutional cooperation are mandatory in achieving common goals as a democratic society.

While Mrs. Duda Balje, Chairperson of the Committee on Human Rights, Gender Equality, Missing Persons and Petitions, spoke about the role that the Assembly has on implementation of Ombudsperson recommendations as well as close cooperation that the Committee has with the Ombudsperson Institution. Mr. Nait Hasani, Chairperson of the Committee on Public Administration, Local Governance and Media spoke regarding good governance, good administration and accountability of the executive. Further, the floor was given also to Mr. Habit Hajredini, Director of the Office of Good Governance who spoke about cooperation, monitoring and challenges related to implementation of Ombudsperson recommendations.

An open discussion was developed by participants of the Conference, in the course of which, Mrs. Lirije Kajtazi, the deputy and the member of the Parliamentary Committee for Human Rights, Gender Equality, Missing Persons and Petitions, apart positive assessment on the importance of Ombudsperson recommendations, unveil the concern about the low level of implementation of Ombudsperson recommendations. Whereas, other participants addressed their concerns related to the Law on Gender Equality and representation of women in Institutions. But, the willingness and support for cooperation, in respecting and protection of human rights, through implementation of Ombudsperson recommendations, was very much present among representatives of institutions.

With the aim to facilitate the work of authorities, during this Conference, the following publications have been promoted: Good Administration Principles and the Manual on Protection from Discrimination- summaries drafted and published from the Ombudsperson Institution.
