The Ombudsperson Institution, in cooperation with Non-Governmental Organizations, organized joint activity with the theme “Stand up for Human Rights” on International Human Rights Day
Prishtinë, 10 December 2018 – Ombudsperson Institution, in cooperation with Non-Governmental Organizations and the Civil Society of Republic of Kosovo, organized a joint activity “Stand up for Human Rights” on the occasion of marking the 10 December, the International Human Rights Day.
In the activity organized in Kosovo National Theatre, the Ombudsperson, Mr. Hilmi Jashari, and the Head of the Kosovo Women’s Network, Mrs. Igballe Rugova, on their opening speeches pointed out special importance of this day, calling upon civil society to speak out for their rights.
The activity “Stand up for Human Rights” intended to send a strong massage for additional, inclusive and inter-institutional engagement for the promotion and education on human rights and fundamental freedoms. Representatives from civil society, through their speeches, discussed about children’s rights, the rights of youth, women’s rights, rights of elderly people, rights of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities as well as rights of LGBTI community and the rights of disabled people.
The activity further continued with marching from the Square “Skënderbeu” up to Square “Zahir Pajaziti”, with the moto “Stand up for Human Rights”.
Representatives of international and local institutions participated in this activity.
