The Ombudsperson’s meeting with Prosecutors regarding awareness rising and education on human rights

Today, the Ombudsperson and his associates, within his constitutional and legal mandate on public awareness rising and education on human rights, in cooperation with the Academy of Justice, held one day training for the newly appointed state prosecutors in order to inform them on the role and constitutional as well as legal mandate of the Ombudsperson Institution (OI).

The training aimed to provide the newly appointed prosecutors with the information on the history of establishment of this institution, the competencies as well as the responsibilities of Ombudsperson Institution as well as informing them on the practice and the procedures followed in the course of complaint review in this institution.

During the training, special attention has been given to the manner how cases of discrimination are handled at the Ombudsperson Institution, as an equality mechanism for promotion, monitoring and support to equal treatment and without discrimination, on the ground on the Law on Gender Equality and the Law on Protection from Discrimination.

Further, in the course of the training, the work, responsibilities as well as the competencies of the National Preventive Mechanism against Torture and other Inhuman Degrading Treatment or Punishment, were presented.

Part of the training held was also the joint cooperation and open discussion with the participants regarding the issues and questions disclosed during the discussion.
