The Ombudsperson issued the Opinion related to the prevention of nepotism in the University of Prishtina
Prishtinë, 3 May 2018 – The Ombudsperson, with the aim to enforce his constitutional and legal functions, on 16 March 2018, has issued an Opinion related to the prevention of nepotism in the University of Prishtina (attached), in which the University was recommended to implement the internal legislation and best practices of nepotism prevention (taking as orientation standards and principles supported from well-known world universities).
Based on the Opinion provided by the Ombudsperson, University of Prishtina, on 2 May 2018 adopted recommendations arising from this Opinion as well as has displayed in a summarized form internal rules and principles of the University of Prishtina, stipulated in the Status and Code of Ethics, which provides response to the phenomenon of nepotism and assists on its prevention.
The Ombudsperson highly appreciates adoption of the Guideline on Standards and Ethical Principles of the University of Prishtina related to the nepotism avoidance and conflict of interest in procedures of academic staff election.
Additionally, the Ombudsperson calls upon other public high education institutions to follow the sample of Prishtina University, to undertake measures on prevention and combating the phenomenon of nepotism on the academic staff election procedures.
