The Ombudsperson Mr. Hilmi Jashari, participated in the launching workshop, organized by the Council of Europe, concerning the project “Strengthening of the National Preventive Mechanism on Torture. (NPMT)“.

The above given project aims to support NPMT through an inclusive activity package on capacity building and rising of the awareness of NPMT Unit within the Ombudsperson Institution as well as on other relevant institutional stakeholders and civil society, on implementation of European and universal standards and the domestic legislation in the field of protection of human rights of people deprive of liberty and contributing on rising of the awareness on NPMT mandate to relevant stakeholders.

Project implementation is predicted to be accomplished in April of 2019, while stakeholders and those that will benefit from this project, jointly with OI, will be The Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, civil society and international organizations, including UN units, OSCE, EU and the embassies.
