The Ombudsperson ascertains pollution above permissible parameters in hydraulic discharge points of Power plant Kosova A and Kosova B
The Ombudsperson, Mr. Hilmi Jashari, jointly with his associates and an expert of Hydro-meteorology Institute of Kosovo as well as officials of Obiliq Municipality, visited village Dardhishte of the Obiliq Municipality, actually hydraulic discharge points of Power plant Kosova A and Kosova B in river Sitnica, in the same village.
This visit has been conducted with the intention of witnessing discharge of water industrial wastes, with the intention of pH measuring in these two discharging points and in order of taking samples for detail analyses of pollution level.
From measures conducted in two discharge points of industrial waste water, has been noticed that in hydraulic discharge point of Power plant Kosova A, the pH level marked 12.78, while in hydraulic discharge of Power plant Kosova B, pH reached 12.98.
Evasions from acceptable standards of industrial discharge damage natural qualities of water, as per qualitative and quantitative aspect and cause long-term consequences for human beings and the ecosystem in general, thus the Ombudsperson calls upon responsible authorities to act promptly in compliance with relevant laws on protection of environment and acceptable standards for water, soil and air quality.
