Based on media reporting, the Ombudsperson, in compliance with legal responsibilities assigned, has decided to conduct ex-officio investigation related to the issue of dissemination of the energy value consumed in the northern part of the county to citizens’ bills Kosovo wide. Based on media reporting the annual value of the consumed energy amount is approximately 8 million euros, sum that citizens of other part of Kosovo are being burdened with.

Furthermore, based on information and media chronicles, the Ombudsperson has initiated ex-officio investigation of a number of other cases, including threats addressed to chief-editor of “Zëri”, Mrs. Arbana Xharra; the case of the infant that during childbirth process has fallen on flooring in the Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic; some cases dealing with rights of children and their social and health protection; cases that deal with responsibility for living environment, etc.

The Ombudsperson immensely evaluates the work done by media in setting into focus of attention sensitive issues and those of public interest, by contributing directly on identification of issues that requires institutional involvement to correct violations or inactions, but also inclusive awareness rising on rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution of Republic of Kosovo.
