A round table discussion was held by Ombudsperson Institution in Leposavic

A Round table discussion was held by Ombudsperson Institution (OI) in Leposavic, with the theme “ Ombudsperson Institution role in protection and promotion of human rights”.

Having regard that the Round table in Leposavic was the first of such kind held in this municipality, with intention to inform the participants with the work of Ombudsperson Institution, participants showed noticeable contentment because they had the opportunity to be informed with responsibilities that the Ombudsperson has, challenges and obstacles with which Institution face in daily work as well as opportunities of complaint lodging with the Ombudsperson Institution.

Deputy Ombudsperson, Mr. Ibrahim Arslan, welcomed the participants on behalf of Institution and expressed his gratitude for participants’ shown interest on the work of Ombudsperson Institution and the readiness to cooperate with all relevant factors on protection and promotion of human rights.

Deputy Ombudsperson, Mr. Basri Berisha, presented the background of Ombudsperson Institution from the day it has been established until nowadays as well as legal and organizational reforms that the Institution has endured until now.

Legal adviser Mrs. Miljana Šćekić, presented the way and procedure of citizens’ complaint submission and their admission in the Ombudsperson Institution.

Participants in this Round table were from NGO sector, municipal structure, municipal assembly and media. Participants in this Round table exposed their problems which are of great concern for them and showed the interest on the manner how the Ombudsperson can assist them in overcoming their problems.

Media representatives exposed their interest on accomplishment of cooperation and possible participation of Ombudsperson Institution into their program content in next period.
