Marking of Children’s Day by Ombudsperson Institution

Children’s Day is being marked on 1st of June each year in many counters of the world. The World Conference for the Well-being of Children in Geneva, Switzerland, proclaimed June 1 to be International Children’s Day in 1925. In this conference, 54 state participants adopted Geneva Declaration for Child Protection. Usually this date is being marked with different activities in order to make children happier as well as to promote well-being and their rights.

In order to mark this Day, representatives of Ombudsperson Institution will meet children from Prishtina, Graçanica, Mitrovica, Prizren, Gjilan, Gjakova and Feriza. During these events children will be provided with information regarding Ombudsperson’s mandate on promotion and protection of human rights, actually will have the possibility to be heard by OI representatives.

Meetings with children will be held close to OI regional offices and school premises (Graçanicë), while in Prishtina the event will take place in “Ibrahim Rugova” square. The event will run from 11am – 14pm while in other cities from 12am- 14pm.
