Tiranë, 3 May 2016 – President of the Assembly Mr. Ilir Meta welcomed today Kosovo Ombudsperson Mr. Hilmi Jashari. Ombudsperson of Albania, Mr. Igli Totozani was present in this meeting as well.

While welcoming Mr. Jashari, the President of the Assembly pointed out the fact that Ombudsperson Institution, as an institution derived from the Assembly, is on continual cooperation on the interest of state’s democratization processes as well as on the service of quality life improving and respect of human rights.

Kosovo Ombudsperson, Mr. Jashari in the course of expressing his appreciation to the President for realization of this meeting, highly evaluated the successful cooperation between the Institution of Ombudsperson of Kosovo and Institution of People’s Advocate of Albania, not only relating to sharing of experience and signing of mutual cooperation agreements but on the support that the Ombudsperson Institution of Albania provides to the Ombudsperson Institution of Kosovo concerning its membership into international networks , as was the case with membership in the Association of the Mediterranean Ombudsmen (AOM)

Organizing of joint activities between Ombudsperson Institutions of both counties and both Assemblies was discussed during the meeting. Mr. Meta pointed out the fact that in performing their activities, Institution of People’s Advocate of Albania and Ombudsperson Institution of Kosovo as well, face challenges into their work.

Z. Meta estimated that these institutions realize a effective function on improving the life of their citizens, and as such the Parliament of both countries ought to prize the work performed by them and support entirely.
