The Ombudsperson, Mr. Hilmi Jashari with his associates, met today Mr. David Cullen, Head of Unit for Kosovo and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia in Department of Neighbourhood, Policy and Enlargement Negotiations of European Commission, Office in Brussel, accompanied by Mrs. Farina Ahauser, as well as Thomas Gnocchi and Visar Bivolaku from the EU Office in Kosovo.

The meeting was focused on challenges which the Ombudsperson faces in performance of its powers and mandate, including here working conditions and institutional independence. Main emphasis was given on implementation level of OI recommendations by public authorities as well as respect of human rights and of Ombudsperson Institution itself, as a national institution on human rights. Furthermore, there were also discussions about OI cooperation with Ombudsperson Institutions of neighboring countries and wider in regional and international networks and mechanisms of institutions which deal with human rights activities.

The ongoing support that European Commission is providing to OI is highly evaluated on this occasion for the advancement of human rights in Kosovo.
