Ombudsperson institution is organizing the Round Table discussion with the theme “Cooperation between Ombudsperson Institution (OI) and Human Rights Units (HRU) at municipal level“.

Human Rights Units (HRU) function within municipalities of Republic of Kosovo established based on Administrative Instruction (AI) No. 2007/8 of the Ministry of Local Government Administration (MLGA), amended and supplemented by AI 2011/01 and 2011/04. They are sustainable and responsible mechanism for human rights promotion and protection at the municipal level, in accordance with the applicable legislation, international standards as well as Policies, Strategies and Action Plans of Kosovo Republic institutions.

The purpose of this round table was to notify HRU about OI added powers after endorsement of three basic laws on human rights  (Law No. 05/L-019 on Ombudsperson, Law No. 05/L-020 on Gender Equality and Law No. 05/L-021 on Protection from Discrimination ) and up to date work of HRU in municipalities, challenges in their work and future planes  as well as to discuss the cooperation performed until now between OI and HRU in municipalities, including challenges of cooperation and forms of this cooperation in the future.
