September 30, 2015 –within the function of Open Days realization, as a part of regular agenda of the Ombudsperson Institution (OI), Mr. Hilmi Jashari, the Ombudsman today visited Mitrovica, on which occasion, the opportunity has been given to the citizens of this region to meet directly with him, within the premises of OI regional office, and present their concerns and complaints regarding various things.

During his visit to Mitrovica the Ombudsman met with the Mayor of Mitrovica municipality, Mr. Agim Bahtiri with whom he discussed problems with which citizens of this region face as well as about the most frequent cases that OI obtain from people of this region. Mr. Jashari and Mr. Bahtiri jointly ascertained the need of strengthening the mutual cooperation in the function of recognition of human rights and freedoms as well as they stressed the need of involvement of national central institutions, as a necessity for effective solution of the problems with which Mitrovica citizens face.

In the course of his stay in Mitrovica, the Ombudsperson visited the CBM (Community Building Mitrovica) NGO and met with representatives of this non-governmental organization. During the meeting Mr. Jashari exposed his readiness for cooperation with the civil society with the intention of protection and promotion of human rights and freedoms as well as be involved actively in joint projects and endeavors. In the meeting the Ombudsperson got acquainted with the work and the way of CBM functioning, as non-governmental organization acting in Mitrovica region.

Meetings realized in Mitrovica are within the scope of visits that the Ombudsperson is accomplishing in regional centers where Ombudsperson Institution regional centers are located.
