
Ombudsman held a range of meetings after his election as Ombudsperson
Prishtinë, July 13, 2015 – The Ombudsman, Mr. Hilmi Jashari welcomed today the Ambassador of Switzerland in Kosovo, Mrs. Krystyna Marty Lang, accompanied by her associates. Ambassador Marty Lang expressed her satisfaction that the Ombudsperson election process by the Parliament of the country has resulted successfully and exposed her interest for the vision of new Ombudsperson as well as the challenges that he might have identified in front of him in accomplishing the mandate entrusted to him. The Ombudsperson informed the Swiss Ambassador regarding his objectives and aims to further enhance Kosovo Ombudsperson Institution and therefore human rights and freedoms as well as promotion of them generally in our country.
It is worth mentioning that since Mr. Jashari’s appointment as Ombudsperson he met in a row with the President of Constitutional Court, Mrs. Arta Rama and the Minister of Public Administration (MPA) Mr. Mahir Yagcilar, in a joint meeting, while in a separate meetings he welcomed deputy minister of Ministry of Integration Mr. Ramadan Ilazi, Mr. Naim Osmani with his associates from Civil Rights Kosovo Program, Mr. Behxhet Shala, from Council for Protection of Human Rights and Freedom, Mrs. Feride Rushiti, from Kosovo Rehabilitation Center for Torture Victims (KRCT).
In these meetings the readiness for cooperation has been disclosed on the function of upgrading human rights and freedoms as well as increase of citizens’ trust in the legal system and state institutions.
Mr. Hilmi Jashari has been elected with majority of votes as Ombudsperson from the Assembly of Republic of Kosovo in the plenary session of 2nd July, 2015 for the next five years mandate.
