31 July, 2014 – Within the scope of the meetings conducted by the Ombudsperson, Mr. Sami Kurteshi, with newly elected municipal mayors, today he visited Mr. Muharrem Svarqa, the mayor of Ferizaj municipality, nominated from the latest local elections in the country.

The mandate and the complaints addressed to the Ombudsperson Institution (OI) were discussed during this event, with the main emphases on complaints addressed against municipal authorities in Ferizaj municipality. On this occasion the Ombudsperson, Mr. Kurteshi informed Mr. Svarqa regarding the vast number of complaints concerning municipal institutions that OI have had during last years as well as with the nature of these complaints.

The Ombudsperson emphasized the importance of good and sincere cooperation among OI and the municipality, pointing out the citizens as the main beneficiaries of it.

On the other hand the Mayor of Ferizaj municipality expressed his gratitude for the initiative undertaken by the Ombudsperson about the meeting and assured him that he will do everything in his power to ensure efficient administration which will be endlessly on citizens’ disposal. At the same time he expressed his willingness for cooperation regarding handling of cases addressed to the Ombudsperson Institution.
