MEDIA INVITATION

In order to mark International Children’s Day on the 1st of June, the Ombudsperson Institution has foreseen some activities on which children will be informed regarding OI mandate on protection and promotion of human rights, respectively an opportunity will be provided to them to be heard by OI representatives.

Activities will be conducted on Sunday, 1st of June 2014 according to the following agenda:

PRISHTINË

From 10:00-11:00 – A visit to SOS Children’s village – Prishtinë. Media can cover this visit with due respect of village’s terms

From 11:00 -14:00 – Meeting with children in “Nëna Terezë” Square – OI tents will be placed where OI legal representatives will provide information regarding its mandate in protection and promotion of human rights, possibility will be offered to children to be heard by OI representatives as well as submit complaints that they might have.

From 13:00 -15:00 – The Ombudsperson or OI representative will participate in joint activities in the corner for reading and admission of possible complaints from children.

At 15:00 – As a part of joint arrangement, Save the Children and other NGOs will submit complaint boxes to the Ombudsperson, containing children’s complaints received that day.

From 12:00 – 14:00 – In an open environment in PRIZREN, GJAKOVË, SOUTHERN PART OF MITROVICA, NORTHERN PART OF MITROVICA, GJILAN, GRAÇANICË, close to OI regional offices, OI tents will be placed where OI legal representatives will provide information regarding its mandate in protection and promotion of human rights, possibility will be offered to children to be heard by OI representatives as well as submit complaints that they might have.

This day is proclaimed as an International Children’s Day in the World Conference for the Well-being of Children in 1925 in Geneva, Switzerland. On that occasion 54 state members endorsed Geneva Declaration on Child Protection. Many states of the world mark this day in different ways.
