Acceleration of situation in clash between protestors and police forces within the scope of the Rectorate building is dangerous, deleterious and unacceptable.

Situation created and fierce confrontation in front of Rectorate building is due to the lack of mandatory debate within the academic world. Today’s injury of dozens of protesters as well as police officers is direct consequence of such debate inexistence.

Ombudsperson’s suggestion is that the debate removed in the street should return within university world with the aim to find reasonable solution and in compliance with academic universal standards.

Based on the constitutional and legal competencies the Ombudsperson expresses its readiness to mediate in order to overcome the situation created between students and leading bodies of the Prishtina University, in case there is a good will from both parties.

Nevertheless, in this situation participants of these protests should self-restrict themselves from the deeds that might worsen the situation created.
