Today’s killing of a school boy in Mitrovica by his mate and attendee of the same school, within school premises is a tragic and horrific event that should serve as an reprehensible alarm for all competent educational and security institutions at place to undertake urgent measures for preventing any deed that violates and endangers the life of children in schools as well as proper flow of educational process in Kosova Republic schools.

The Ombudsperson calls upon all competent institutions of the Republic of Kosova, the Ministry of Education, Municipal Directorates of Education, school managements, as well as institutions responsible for order and security to engage themselves seriously through undertaking concrete measures and institutional responsibility on preventing such cases through intensification of the seriousness of prosecution, case investigation and bringing the perpetrates in front of justice.

The Ombudsperson reiterates the request for all responsible and competent institutions of the Republic of Kosova to harshen the measures for holding of unpermitted weapons in the whole territory, activity that competent state institutions of the Republic of Kosova should consider as urgent and mandatory issue.
