OMBUDSPERSON’S STATEMENT ON THE OCCASION OF INTERNATIONAL DAY ON HUMAN RIGHTS
Since then states’ actions and inactions concerning human rights continuously are being supervised and monitored by common social partners: independent national institutions for human right as well as civil society.
United Nation Organization in 2000 adopted Millennium Development Goals, targets set to be achieved by Kosova as well. Eradication of poverty, enabling primary education for all, gender equality, empowering of woman’s role in the society- targets that seek active role of the state and serious access for finding suitable forms for their accomplishment.
10th of December reminds the universality of equality in dignity and rights for all human beings. This day also recalls for additional engagements for promotion and protection of human rights and freedoms for everyone. On this day it is impossible not to bring in our minds the greater human rights fighter, Nelson Mandela, to whom the whole world in paying tribute today.
A day like this seeks reflection upon responsibility that each of us separately and all together have to build a better world today than it was yesterday. Kosova needs such reflection, for what it went through in the past and for the sake of the future that it aims.
