22 January 2013 – The Ombudsperson is concerned regarding latest events after forceful removal of monolith dedicated to Liberation Army for Preshevë, Medvegjë and Bujanoc (UÇPMB). The Ombudsperson is carefully observing the situation created after this uncivilized and provocative act of the Serbian authorities.

The Ombudsperson appeals to all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo for self constraint from the illegal and unacceptable acts, which are unacceptable for a democratic and civilized society and to find legal ways of protesting and reacting through which in a peaceful and democratic way they will display their dissatisfaction and opposition related any kind of dissatisfaction or act, be that the same act as the one done by the Serbian authorities.

Damaging the monuments and Serbian orthodox grave yard by irresponsible persons are unjustifiable acts and punishable by law. These acts of vandalism cause fear and concern to all the peoples, and they do not help at all efforts for establishing peace and stability in Kosovo. Therefore, we request competent institutions of the Republic of Kosovo to undertake legal measures against all persons who committed such acts.
