Round table” Inter-institutional cooperation in protecting and respecting the human rights”

10 October 2011 – The Regional office of the Ombudsperson Institution (OIK) in Mitrovica, supported by the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, has gathered in a joint round table coordinators of human rights units in the region of Mitorvica, the officials from the offices for communication of the Municipal level institutions and the representatives of the NGO-s.

The round table on the topic: “Inter-institutional cooperation in protecting and respecting the human rights” aimed to discuss cooperation between the institutions in the area of human rights protection, as well as to discuss the manner of exchanging the information and experiences that the institutions have in this respect. Also, it was discussed about the particular cases, which have been handled in the Municipality of Mitrovica and other Municipalities of this region. During this round table were also presented cases that require intervention and handling by the Ombudsperson.
During this round table, briefly has been presented the annual report 2010, which except introducing the current situation of human rights in Kosovo also makes recommendations for the public institutions of Kosovo, including here local level institutions.
This round table has been organized within the campaign THE OMBUDSPERSON A STEP CLOSER TO THE CITIZEN, which aims to get closer to the citizens, as well as strengthening the cooperation between the Ombudsperson Institution and local Institutions in Kosovo in order to provide to the citizens needed services.
During this week, such round tables will be held in Prizren, Gjilan/Gnjilane and Gračanica/Graçanicë.
