3.10.2011 – The Ombudsperson, Mr. Sami Kurteshi is extremely concerned regarding the murder of the Director of Directorate for Education of the Municipality of Prishtina, Mr. z. Remzi Salihu. The event becomes even more serious bearing in mind that the person has been killed at his working place.

This case and other cases that occurred lately, such as murder of the youngsters in Pejë, one of the murders occurred two months ago, the other case of murder occurred in Prishtina in about ten days ago and a murder of a person who was accompanied by his son who was wounded, are the indicators of a fragile public security in the country.

The killings and violence is gradually being transferred into the school environments and at working places. Such environments should indeed provide high security for the life and daily activities. Such manner of solution of the conflicts indicates that the justice and security system is failing to protect the life of citizens.

It is necessary to identify perpetrators and bring them before the justice as soon as possible. Such action is also a necessary in order to prevent such criminal acts and to have impact in the improvement of the security for the citizens of the country. This should be a priority for the organs of public order and competent institutions of justice in Kosovo.
