PRISHTINA, 22 MARCH 2011 – In a meeting with the representatives of the Ombudsperson Institution, CDHR and EULEX, deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Mr. Hajredin Kuçi, announced the decision on re-functioning of the Panel for suspended sentences.
The representatives of EULEX, Ombudsperson Institution and CDHR will be monitoring the Panel which is composed of local and international Judges.
In a meeting, Mr. Kuçi said that there has been issued a decision to revise all decisions of the Panel on Suspended Sentences, starting from 16 October 2010. He proposed that in the future decisions of the Panel be public and process be monitored by the Panel from beginning till the issuance of decisions.
Also, it was requested the professional building-up of Judges and representatives of the Correctional Service of Kosovo starting from the procedure of admission of request filed by the prisoner till the phase of reviewing of the request by the Panel.
This meeting was organized by the Ombudsperson Institution and CDHR after review of Panel`s decisions from 16 October 2010.
