Equality bodies from Southeast Europe meet

Pristina, October 22nd, 2026 – The Ombudsperson, Mr. Naim Qelaj, accompanied by his associates, is currently in Ljubljana, Slovenia, for an international conference bringing together equality bodies from Southeast Europe.
Today, participants discussed how to preserve and strengthen the independence of equality bodies during the transposition of EU directives. Slovenia’s equality body also marked its 10th anniversary. A reception hosted by the President of the Republic of Slovenia is also scheduled for today.
On the second day of the conference—co-organized by the Ombudsperson’s Institution of the Republic of Kosovo and Slovenia—discussions will focus on “Challenges and Perspectives regarding Protection Against Discrimination in Europe.”
